Death

LeRoy: Furr, Laney L. 10/16/2009. Survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sheila (Frost) Furr; daughter, Betsy (Dave) Overacker; grand-daughters, Emily and Erin; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Frost, Janice Furr, and Kay (Gary) Miller, all of LeRoy; a brother-in-law, Dan Frost of Auburn; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, especially the "Gang" at McDonald's. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas, and brother, Robert E. Furr. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Cameron Brady & Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott Street (Rt. 19 South) LeRoy, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10AM. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Ronald McDonald House at the Golisano Children's Hospital.

LeRoy: Laney L. Furr 10/16/2009 It’s with great sadness that we must accept the passing of Laney L. Furr on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Highland Hospital after a courageous battle with a long illness. He was born March 9, 1941 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, the son of the late Robert O. and Catherine M. Furr. He was a 1959 graduate of LeRoy High School where he is still remembered as a gifted athlete. He was on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964 and served in the Army Reserves until 1968. He retired from Lapp Insulator. Mr. Furr was a lifetime member of the LeRoy Volunteer Fire Department with the Excelsior Hook and Ladder Company as well as a member of the American Legion and Moose Club. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sheila (Frost) Furr; his devoted daughter, Betsy (Dave) Overacker; his granddaughters, Emily (“Pumpkin”) and Erin (“My Little One”), who were the lights of his life; four sister-in-laws, Sharon Frost, Janice Furr, and Kay (Gary) Miller, all of LeRoy and Elaine Frost of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Dan Frost of Auburn; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, especially the “Gang” at McDonald’s. His time with them meant so much to him. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Thomas, and brother, Robert E. Furr. Family & friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the Cameron Brady & Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott Street (Rt. 19 South) LeRoy, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
