Margaret (Furr) Sykes, familiarly known as Aunt Maggie, was a wonderful woman. By her energy, industry, and good business judgement and management, she accumulated a large estate consisting mostly of real estate in Charlotte, North Carolina. For many years she was active in church and Dunday School work. She spent her entire married life in Charlotte.

Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret R. Sikes, 86, of 104 W, Park Ave. who died yesterday morning in a local hospital after a short illness, will be held tomorrow at 2 P. M. at the Dilworth Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles P. Bowles, the pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will be taken from McEwen Funeral Home to the home today at 5 P. M. to remain until half an hour before the service when it will be taken to the church. Active pallbearers will be B. B. Blanton, Coy Furr, Hazel Owen, Zeno Erwin, T. C. Graham and Carl Furr. Born Sept. 29, 1865, she was the former Margaret Furr, daughter of Paul P. and Eve Efird Furr of Concord. She spent her girlhood days in Cabarrus County, where she taught in the public schools for a number of years. Mrs. Sikes was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, having been affiliated with Dilworth Methodist Church for a number of years. Surviving Mrs. Sikes are a son, Carl Sikes of the home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lucy Sikes Howard of Statesville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, May 28, 1952
