Death

MOUNT PLEASANT - George Henry Walker, 68, of 5475 Hwy. 49, Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at CMC- NorthEast. Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Walker family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gordon Funeral Home and at other times at the home of George H. Walker, Jr., 1209 Pressley Downs Dr., Concord. Mr. Walker was born June 30, 1940 in Cabarrus County, son of the late George Horace Walker and Anna Irene Kluttz Walker. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he was an usher and volunteer mower. Since his retirement from Ritch-Tex and Phillip Morris he enjoyed delivering Meal On Wheels, he also enjoyed playing with his grandson and watching ball games. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Sherwood and Audrey Ashby. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Kay Furr Walker, son George H. Walker, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Concord; sisters, Margaret Walker of Mount Pleasant, Miriam Yost and husband, Paul, of Concord, and Doris Lippard of Troutman; and one grandchild, Jalen Walker.
