Death

Mildred Geraldine Thompson Furr, 92 years of age, of New London, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living in Boone. Mildred was born August 7, 1924 in Stanly County to the late Henry Nathan Thompson and the late Annie Ada Hathcock Thompson. She was also preceded in death by husband, Rayvon Elbert Furr, in 2007 and one sister, Kathleen Hatley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, May 8, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Bethel United Methodist Church in New London officiated by Rev. Carroll Flack and Rev. Kevin McCormac. A 30 minute state will be held prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery at 44118 Highway 740, New London, NC 28127, New London. Survivors include one son, Tommy (Lynn) Furr of Charlotte; one daughter, Debra Macey of Deep Gap, NC; sisters, Glenna Hinson and Carolyn Lowder; five grandchildren, Karma Wilson, Andi Johnson, Kelly Poplin, Tracey Furr, and Bill Parrish; and four great grandchildren, Kaytie, Holly, Shadow, Dalton, and Natalia; and one great great grandson, Ryker.
