Death

Mrs. Catherine Louise Moore, mother of Contractor H. E. G. Furr of this city, died at 5:30 o'clock yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. D. Gilbert, at Weston. She had been in feeble health for several weeks, and during the past month Mr. Furr has been constantly at her bedside. Catherine Louisa Cruse was born in Cabarrus county, North Carolina, Aug. 10, 1833, and was, therefore, 79 years, 7 months and 9 days old at the time of her demise. In 1854 she was happily united in marriage to P. M. Furr, who died while residing on his farm one mile west of Weston on Jan. 8, 1880. To this union were born three sons and three daughters as follows: H. E. Q. Furr, McKinney; L. O. Furr, Sherman; P. M. Furr, Celeste; Mrs. H. D. Gilbert, Weston, with whom she made her home; Mrs. Tobe McDonald, Weston, and Mrs. Fannie Gleaves, deceased. She was again married in 1885 to John A. Moore, who died about twelve years ago. In 1877 she and her husband and children moved to Texas and located on a large farm which they purchased one mile west of Weston. At an early age in life, the deceased joined the Lutheran Evangelical church with which faith she continued her membership until her removal to Texas. She then identified herself with the M. E. Church, South, with which denomination she continued a consistent member until death. Her remains were laid to rest this morning at 10 o'clock in the Mugg graveyard near Weston. The funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church at Weston by Her pastor, Rev. W. E. Kilby, of Celina, assisted by Rev. Tyler of Pilot Point. Many relatives survive this aged mother in Israel to bless her memory and cherish the recollection of her devout, Christian life and deeds. To them, these papers join with other sympathetic friends, in extending condolence.
