Death
ALBEMARLE — Mrs. Gladys Furr Gobble, 89, of 44036-B Troy Rd. died Sept. 17, 1997, in Stanly Manor Nursing Center. Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at West Albemarle Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Fox officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Stanly Funeral Home. Mrs. Gobble was born in Stanly County. She was a retired textile worker with American & Efird Mill Co. Survivors include her husband, Avery (Buck) Gobble of the home; son, Max Pennington of Albemarle; brothers, William Belvin Furr and Thaddeus Furr, both of Albemarle, and Rayvon Furr of New London; sister, Mrs. Irene Brantley of San Bernadina, CA; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one step-daughter, Ann Lentz of Newton. Mrs. Gobble was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Pennington; and a daughter, Janet Hess.
