Death
Mrs. Nellie Furr Melton, 81, of Route 7 died 10 am Sunday in Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord after being seriously ill for five weeks. The funeral will be 11 am Tuesday in Stanly Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Albemarle conducted by the Rev. Jessie Rushing, pastor of Rock Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Randalls United Methodist Church cemetery in Norwood. The family will be at the funeral home in Albemarle tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. Born Feb 23 1900, in Stanly County Mrs. Melton was a daughter of the late John Allison and Sophronia Howell Furr. She was a retired textile employee, and was a member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church. Her husband, James W. Melton, died Jan 31 1966. Survivors include one brother James Wilson “Pete” Furr of Stanfield, one sister, Mrs Pauline F. Furr of Stanfield and a number of nieces and nephews.Endnotes
