Death

Mildred Lucille Speight, 95, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Trinity Place in Albemarle. Mildred was born July 6, 1926 in Stanly County to the late William Henry Poplin and the late Margie Mae Poplin. She was also preceded in death by husband, Roy Daniel Speight; son, Eddie Daniel Speight; brothers, Homer Lee Poplin, Lois Alvin Poplin, Vermon Poplin, W.C "Dub" Poplin; and sister, Eva Mae Leonard; grandson, Roger Brian Speight and Justin Thomas Speight; great-grandson, William " Willie" Ramsey. The family will receive friends Tuesday August 10, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, Albemarle. The funeral service will follow officiated by Rev. Ron Honeycutt. Burial will be in the Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2225 East Main Street, Albemarle. Mildred was very proud of the fact that she was the last surviving member of her graduating class. She loved getting outside and spending time in her garden along with enjoying time with all of her family. Survivors include son, Roger Wayne (Glenda) Speight of Albemarle; daughter, Janice (Lloyd) Ramsey of Statesville; daughter-in-law, Denise Speight of Albemarle; grandsons, Phillip Speight, Brett Speight, Jared Speight, Ryan Speight, Erik Speight and Adam Ramsey; granddaughter, Jennifer Ramsey; brother, Dixie Poplin; sister, Helen C. Swaringen; 17 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Anderson Grove Baptist Church, 2225 East Main Street, Albemarle NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Speight family.
