Pearlie Mae FURR

The State Board of Investigation yesterday was requested to assist in an investigation of the shooting of Tom Moore three miles from Troy last Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Earl D. Bruton of Montgomery asked for ballistics examination of a gun and flattened bullet found near the car. Director Fred C. Handy of the SBI said Moore was shot in the chest while riding with a woman identified as Pearlie Mae Furr Lemmons. He said she was being held for questioning and that Moore was in a critical condition at a hospital in Albemarle. The gun and bullet were found near the car in which Moore was wounded.

ASHEBORO — Funeral for Mrs. Pearlie Mae Furr Marks, 52, of Asheboro, who was found dead in a farm pond Monday afternoon, was to be held today in Ridge McDowell Funeral Home Chapel. ASHEBORO (UPI) — Randolph County Sheriff Lloyd Brown said Tuesday he was holding two Asheboro men in connection with the death of Mrs. Pearlie Mae Furr Marks, 52. The woman's body was found Monday in an isolated farm pond near the Asheboro Municipal Airport. No formal charges were filed Tuesday pending an autopsy report. Brown said the men were arrested Tuesday morning as they stood beside the dead woman's car on Rt. 220 south of Asheboro. Her bruised body was found floating in the pond by three fishermen.
