CATAWBA Margaret "Lucille" Strube Hooks, 81, of Catawba passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Sherrills Ford. Born Feb. 4, 1936, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Mary Jane Furr Strube. She was a member of First Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn C. Hooks; and three brothers, Ray, Gene and Ralph Strube. She is survived by her son, Rodney Hooks and wife, Judy Smith of Catawba; loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Johnson of Southport and Louise Tuggle of Charlotte; and brother, Grady Strube of Georgia. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m., at East First Street Baptist Church in Newton, with the Rev. Allan McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service.
