Death

Harold David Furr, 94 years of age, of Concord, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Harold was born January 25, 1923 in Cabarrus County to the late Daniel Vernon Furr Sr.and Sarah Frances Blackwelder. He was also preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters. Harold retired from Cannon Mills after working as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years. He was a faithful employee to Cannon Mills, but his life passion was the farm he returned home to each day. He loved the work that could be done on his tractor and found joy in caring for the cattle he raised. Harold love his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He and his wife "Philly" also enjoyed years of western square dancing together. Survivors include his wife of 68 yrs, Ophelia "Philly" Furr of Concord; his son, Rod & wife Shelia Furr of Concord; his daughters, Jody Smith of Concord and Pam & husband J.R. Furr of Concord; four grandchildren; Jennifer (Jerry) Love , Melissa Sides, Jeremy(Tabitha) Furr, and Chris (Amanda) Furr; eight great grandchildren, and his pet Jack. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be Monday, March 27, 2017, 2:00 pm at Roberta United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Jim Church . Burial will follow at Roberta United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or Roberta United Methodist Church Building and Cemetery Fund.
