CONCORD — Elbridge Palmer “Pro” Furr, 76, of 684 Cabarrus Ave. West, died Wednesday (Nov. 5, 1997) at NorthEast Medical Center. Born Aug. 21, 1921, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late William Covington and Bessie Rose Drye Furr. He had retired as a dolpher with Cannon Mills Company, Plant 5, after 35 years of service. A U.S Army veteran of World War I, he was a member of Young Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include wife Helen Beacham Furr; sons Gary “Butch” Furr, Concord, and Ronnie Mitchell Furr, China Grove; daughter Andra Denise Furr, Matthews; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Abe Ferris and the Rev. Victor Trivette. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by DAV Chapter 27. Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Hartsell Funeral Home.
