Death
Nelda Lee Sparks Holbert, 87, a lifelong resident of Amarillo, Texas who moved to Lewisville, Texas in September 2009, to be close to her daughter and son, passed away on December 12, 2014. She was born December 17, 1926, in Amarillo to Lee and Leona Sparks. She married Ray K. Holbert on July 31, 1943, who preceded her in death in 1994. Before she moved, she was a longtime active member of First Christian Church of Amarillo. She was also a member of DAR since 1959, and a member of PEO Chapter Z since 1953. Nelda is survived by her children, Karen Walter and husband Riley of Lewisville and Bruce Holbert and wife Carolyn of College Station; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery with Rick Holbert officiating.(Published by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, December 17, 2014)
