Mabel Ann Pendleton Furr, 77, of Newton died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born July 3, 1932 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late J.C. Pendleton and Henrietta Cline Sigmon. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Newton, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joe Boswell Furr. She devoted her life to taking care of her husband Joe and her children. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Melissa Setzer and husband Stanley K. of Newton and Marilyn Vaughn and husband Bruce W. of Bethlehem; son and daughter-in-law Joe Furr and wife Sally of Statesville; grandchildren A.J. Punch and wife Katy, Jerry Lee Punch, Jr., Stanley K. Setzer, II, William A. Setzer and wife Shannon, Mary Kate Botic and husband Tim, Matthew W. Vaughn, Cameron Furr and Courtney Huffman; a brother and sister-in-law Clyde Pendleton and wife Isabell of Christiansburg, VA; and a sister Shirley Berry. Private services were held. Memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. The Furr family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.
