Death
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wilson Furr will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Waters Funeral Home, will be in Florence Memorial Gardens. Mr. and Mrs. Furr died Sunday near Hartsville in a boating accident. Mrs. Claudine ‘‘Tweety’’ Edgerton Furr was born in Florence, a daughter of Mrs. Claudine McLeod Edgerton and the late John W. Edgerton. She was a graduate of McClenaghan High School and Winthrop College. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Sunday School class and was active in the Family YMCA. She was a secretary for Kirven, Strobel & Wukela Law Firm. Surviving besides her mother of Florence are two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Minna) Buyck of St. Matthews, Mrs. R. H. (Gail) McDowell of Pineville, La.; a brother, John W. ‘‘Bill’’ Edgerton Jr. of Florence; the maternal grandfather C. R. McLeod of Florence; and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Alma Edgerton of Mars Bluff. Mr. Furr was born in Hickory, N.C., a son of Lee R. and Darlene Wilson Furr. He was a graduate of Newton High School and American College of Paris, France. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Newton, N.C., the Howe Springs Volunteer Fire Department and was active in the Family YMCA. He was employed by General Electric Corporation. Surviving besides his parents of Florence are a sister, Miss Sarah Elizabeth Furr of Florence; four brothers, Thomas Daniel Furr, Robert M. Furr, James E. Furr and John C, Furr all of Florence; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. J. Hal Wilson of Newton, N.C. and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Richard James of Newton, N.C.Florence Morning News, Florence, South Carolina, May 4, 1976
