OBITUARY_ Book titled "Lincoln County - It's People, 1892-1912." Compiled by Yvonne M. McGlothing, 1992. "Died - Shelby Saxon (in print SMITH)..was born Oct. 21, 1858 in Jefferson County, MS. His father died when Shelby was quite young, leaving himself and his brother and sisters to care for their mother, who with a family of small children, was left to the mercies of the cold world...He was baptised into the fellowship of Pleasant Hill Church during the year 1881. He was married on Dec. 20, 1882, to Mary A. Smith. After a long and painful illness he died on Nov. 20, 1892, leaving a widow and three little children."Endnotes
