NOTE: The following document was found in 'loose paper' Estate files of Stanly CO NC located @ NC Archives in Raleigh CR.089.508.15. No name was assigned to this particular Jacket. Widow is Mary Furr who filed a Petition for her Dower Rights in Stanly CO NC Feb Sessions 1866 against the Heirs at law of _____left blank____ Furr dec.d. At the end of the document Feb 1866 is crossed off and May written in= there may have been a delay in the filing. One should check Minutes of Crt P&Q Sessions to confirm when it was actually filed. The document specifies land owned by the decedent lying on the waters of Rock hold and island Creek adj the lands of Mathias Furr & others containing 500ac more or less. A Jury was ordered to lay off the property portion to be allotted to the widow Mary Furr including dwelling house and all other out houses of sd land. On the back side of the do! cument (jacket) it states Mary Furr vs Elizabeth Furr & Others Court of Dower May is crossed off and Aug and Sep 1866 written over the month of May. M.Cookle's name is at the bottom.

In the same file 'Jacket' was there was a Notice filed Feb 24, 1881 in Stanly CO, NC Superior Crt by J.W. Hatsell[Harsell] & wife Bettie Hartsell vs L.L. Furr, Guardian of Bettie Furr, now Bettie Hartsell and Nelson Furr. The court summons L.L. Furr to appear @ Office of the Crt and file accts for Settlement within 20 days after service of notice. Death
We were shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. Polly Barbee. Her body was laid to rest at Flat Rock cemetery.The Concord Daily Tribune, Concord, North Carolina, March 29, 1921
