Death
Ernest Lamar Hoggatt, 46, World war veteran, rural mail carrier and planter, died in a hospital here after a short illness Sunday. The funeral was held at Pine Hill church, near Sicily Island, and the interment took place In a cemetery there, Monday at 3 p. m. Active pallbearers were J. Spann, L. E. Brooks, W. H. Humole, Jr., J. D. Mitchell, E. O. Cannon, and W. A. Tucker. The honorary pallbearers were: C. J. Webber, J. A. Farley, J. N. Risher, Dr. J. N. Bostick, Dr. Gill, Dr. V. H. Mecom, E. E. Ewing, L. A. Braswell, T. T. Spann, A. D. Edwards, A. A. Turner, A. Brewer. Mr. Hoggatt was born in Mississippi but moved to Sicily Island in 1916. He enlisted in 1917 and served overseas. In 1921, he became a rural free delivery mail carrier and was acting in this capacity at the time of his death. He leaves his wife and one daughter, Miss Mary Virginia Hoggatt; two brothers, W. R. and C. L. Hoggatt; and his father, W. C. Hoggatt, all of Wisner, as well as three sisters, Mrs. M. C. Batey, Mrs. Ben Furr and Mrs. Henry Rich.Endnotes
