Death
Breckenridge, Dec.14 (RNS) – Mrs. Florence Adella Furr, 83, died at Breckenridge Convalescent hospital Friday. She had been hospitalized for the past year after having been in ill health for the past 10 years. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. L. H. Lightfoot, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Olney, and the Rev. W. L. Hankla, pastor of the First Methodist Church here, officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery under direction of Melton Funeral Home. She was a member of the First Methodist Church here for 60 years and prior to the time she became ill, was quite active in church and civic affairs. She was the class mother of the Carden Wesley Bible class and a member of the Mackey Wesley Bible class. She also was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Born Dec. 25, 1873, in Detroit, Red River County, Mrs. Furr was a resident of Stephens County for 63 years, moving here in 1893. She came to this area as a school teacher. In November 1895 she was married to the late H. B. Furr. He died in 1944. She is survived by a son, H. B. Furr of Wichita Falls: a daughter, Miss Jewel Furr of Breckenridge, a teacher in the school system here, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Manning of Pampa. Pallbearers will be I. E. Jolly, Ernest Maxwell, Ben Grant, Paul Christenson, H. R. Shackelford and D. T. Bowles, all of Breckenridge, and Stanton Liles of Throckmorton.Abilene Reporter-News, Abilene, Texas, December 15, 1956
