Death

Max Rodney Pennington, 80, of Albemarle passed away Monday April 15, 2013 at his home. His funeral service will be 2 PM Wednesday April 17, 2013 at West Albemarle Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Hatley officiating and burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park with full military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service at West Albemarle Baptist Church Family Life Center. Born April 14, 1933 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Fred S. Pennington and Gladys Furr Pennington Gobble. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer College and was a retired United States Postmaster and a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force with twenty years of service. Mr. Pennington was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Mary Louise Smith Pennington of the home. Other survivors include three daughters: Patricia Jo DeVoss and husband Richard of Seven Lakes, NC, Brenda Morris and husband Jeff of Newport, TN, Sheila Miller and husband Steve of Sanford, NC, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
