Death
Mrs. Mary N. Hooks, 71, of Albemarle, died at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Leo's hospital. She had been at the hospital here for a week. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis suffered some time ago. Mrs. Hooks, who was a native of Stanley county, was the mother of Rev. B. G. Whitley, of 1110 Glenwood avenue, this city. Her first husband, Jacob Oliver Whitley, died eight years ago. In 1929 she was married to J. W. Hooks, who survives. The funeral will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Anderson’s Grove Baptist church, of which she was a member, by Rev. T. E. Staley, the pastor. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The members of the funeral party will leave the Whitley residence at noon Thursday.The Greensboro Record, Greensboro, North Carolina, November 14, 1934
