J. Lee Hartsell MIDLAND -- Mr. Hartsell, 87, of 12480 Hwy. 601, Midland, NC, died July 20, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital-Matthews. He was born February 8, 1922, in Union County, NC. Service Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 2:00 PM, Mill Grove United Methodist Church-Midland, with Rev. Arval Rushing officiating. Burial, Mill Grove United Methodist Cemetery, Midland. Visitation 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Stanly County Chapter 12 DAV. Mr. Hartsell was a veteran of the Army. He was a Supervisor at General Time, Inc. and retired in 1984. He was a member of Mill Grove United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. Survivors include wife Evelyn (Furr) Hartsell of the home; son Jerry Hartsell of Midland; son Jeff Hartsell of Mint Hill; sister Helen Dorton of Midland; sister Lela Mae McManus of Monroe; brother Ed Hartsell of Midland; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by father James Thomas Hartsell, mother Mary Frances (Dorton) Hartsell and infant son Alvin Thomas Hartsell.
