Death
STANFIELD - Jonah Calvin Taylor, 69, of 12265 Hwy. 24/27, Stanfield, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Union Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at Community Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Love's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stanfield. The Rev. Timothy Kendall will officiate. The family received friends Wednesday night at Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of son, Ronnie, 1685 Meadow Creek Road, Locust. Born April 16, 1933, in Stanly County, Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Minnie May Furr Taylor and Jonah Calvin Taylor Sr. He was a winder at Cannon Mills. Survivors include his wife, Eva Taylor of Stanfield; one son, Ronnie Taylor of Locust; one daughter, Oina T. Delevie of Concord; one step-son, Oscar Lewis of Stanfield; one step-daughter, Peggy Efird of Locust; four sisters, Geneva Mullis of Stanfield, Doris Drye of Oakboro, Novella Poplin of Oakboro and Della Petrea of Locust; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is in charge of arrangements.Endnotes
