Death
CONCORD - Hallene Lefler Whitley, 95, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Heritage at Town Center. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Cold Water Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Whitley was born Feb. 1, 1911, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Cletus Lefler and the late Ella Plott Lefler. Mrs. Whitley was a special mother and grandmother who loved to babysit. She loved each and every child she kept in her many years of babysitting. She was a member of Cold Water Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Buford Whitley; sons, Marvin Fillmore Whitley and Harold Dennis Whitley; sisters, Annie (Lefler) Smith and Maebelle (Lefler) Kluttz; and brother, Frank Lefler. Survivors include her son, James Buford Whitley and wife, Bessie Mae Long Whitley, of Concord; daughters, Betty (Whitley) Furr and husband, Kenneth, and Pauline (Whitley) Drye and husband, Arthur, all of Concord; sons, Archie Lee Whitley, Farrell Douglas Whitley and wife, Amy K., all of Concord; sisters, Lucy (Lefler) Kennedy of Concord and Margie (Lefler) Taylor of Kannapolis; 18 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. The family meeting place will be 6350 Miami Church Road, Concord Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Boy Scout Camp Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
