Death

Charlie M. Sides of Route 1, New London, died Saturday evening in Stanly County Hospital at the age of 52. He was born on April 22, 1917 in Stanly County and was the son of Mrs. Isabella Morris Sides of Route 2, Albemarle, and the late J. A. Sides. He was married to the former Miss Cannie Marie Shanks who survives. Mr. Sides was a self-employed painter and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Charlie M. Sides, Jr., of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Sides Furr of Route 4, Albemarle; five brothers, Roy Sides of Belmont, Jay Sides of Charlotte, Ernest Sides of Stanfield, Raymond Sides of Salisbury, and Bobby Sides of New London; one sister, Mrs. Keith Dennis of Route 5, Albemarle, and one grandson. Funeral services will be conducted: at. 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany United Methodist Church. Following a brief period reserved for the paying of last respects to the deceased, burial will be in the church cemetery.
