Death

Matthew J. Furr, 46, of Sunbury, was sent to Clinton County jail in McElhattan on Sept. 21 after he was unable to post $25,000 cash bail following his arrest on three felony retail theft charges in Snyder County. He died while in custody on Nov. 17, Snyder County Corrections Warden John Rissell IV said. Foul play is not suspected and state police at Lamar are investigating the death, he said. While Rissell did not release further details pending the investigation, Snyder County Commissioner Joe Kantz attributed Furr’s demise to mental health issues.
