Notes
Death
Joy Bell Garland (age 79) of Butler, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was known to her children as "Mommy" and "Nana" to pretty much everyone else. Joy was born to Clint and Nanny Ruth McMurray in Bristol on August 28, 1944. She worked hard raising six beautiful children of her own and being a mother-figure to countless others. If you ever came to her home, you never left hungry or without a cup of coffee or a hug unless you chose to. She opened her home and her heart to anyone she met. She was the embodiment of her name as she spread joy to everything around her. She placed her faith in God and always reassured her family and friends going through trials that God would take care of them. Even though her life was far from easy, she never complained and her faith never wavered. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sambo Garland, daughter, Robin Furr, grandson, Jacob Sluder, son-in-law, Dale Sluder. Brothers, Delo, Andrew, BH, Alan, and Jerry. Sister, Aussie.Endnotes
