Notes
Death
Mr. H. C. Moore, died at his home east of town Friday, March 3, 1905 in the 72nd year of his age, and was buried in our city cemetery on Saturday. Mr. Moore had lived where he died for many years and was known and respected as a good citizen and excellent neighbor. He was a quiet, unassuming gentleman, honest in all his dealings, ready to do to others as he would have them do to him. He has been in feeble health for some years and his death was not unexpected. He enlisted in May, 1863, in Company F, 2nd Kentucky Cavalry (Morgan's Command) and served continuously and with credit to the end of the war. He is mentioned as a brave, faithful soldier by his comrades, and never during his term of service received a furlough. He was a member in good standing of Camp Kit Mott, No. 23 U. C. V. and a larger number of his comrades would have been present to pay their last respects to his memory, but for a mistake in the announced time for the burial. Peace to his ashes. The South Newspaper, Holly Springs, Mississippi, March 9, 1905
