Death
Jimmy Rogers Kellogg a longtime resident of Daisy and Stringtown, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2024, in Stringtown, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years and 1 day. He was born on August 16, 1935, to Guy Elmer and Grace Margaret (Furr) Kellogg, at Daisy, OK. He married his girlfriend and soul mate, Linda Carole Barnett on March 2, 1956, at Durant, OK. They celebrated 68 wonderful years together before his passing. He attended Daisy School House and graduated from Stringtown High School with the Class of '52. Jim received his Associate's Degree at EOSC in 1954 and his Bachelor's in Education at SOSU in 1956, and later received his Master's Degree in Education Administration. Jim was Principal at Stringtown School from 1956-1964. During his time as principal, he coached the high school boys' basketball team. He became Superintendent of Stringtown School in 1965 and remained in that position until 1981. Jim was first director at the Kiamichi Technology Center Atoka Campus when it opened in 1981. He maintained that position until his retirement in 1993. Jim entered the Armed Services in 1955 and retired from the Army Reserves as Colonel in 1988. Jim was a motivational speaker/entertainer who took great joy in playing for numerous schools and associations. Jim was Mayor of Stringtown from 1970-1981. He was the president of the Atoka County Chamber of Commerce for a short time. Jim loved being a cattle rancher and he enjoyed deer hunting. Jim was a member of the Gideons. He had a passion for his prison ministry leading numerous people to the Lord. Out of all of his accomplishments his greatest joy came from Jesus and his family!SURVIVED BY
