Ray Delton Seawright, 98, US Navy WW2 veteran of Sand Springs passed away at his home on Sunday morning with his loving wife and children at his bedside. Ray was born on April 1, 1926, to William Amsey and Eunice Mae (Dawson) Seawright in Mill Creek, Oklahoma. He worked on the family farm, with his father until joining the US Navy and serving in WW2. Ray began working in plumbing and pipefitting after the war. He retired from the Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. On November 10, 1966, Ray married the love of his life, Mildred Fayrene DeWeese. They were faithful members of the Olivet Baptist Church. Survivors include his bride of 57 years, Mildred; sons, Ray Jr and his wife Debbie, Jim Furr and his wife Patti; daughters, Nancy Campbell and husband Howard, Cheryl Furr, Jeri Hargrave and husband Tom, and Judy Brown; 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren with 2 more on the way, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Amsey and Eunice, 4 sisters, Opal, Ruth, June and Helen; 2 brothers, Vernon and Fred. Memorial service celebrating Ray's life will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 16, at Olivet Baptist Church.Endnotes
