Death
Norris Wayne Wyatt, 86, of Kannapolis, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, following a period of declining health. Norris was born June 1, 1938, in Cabarrus County, to the late William Wilson Wyatt and Iola Link Wyatt. Being the baby of the Wyatt family and last surviving child, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, James “Cotton” Wyatt, Martha Wyatt Hooper, Eugene ”Gene” Wyatt, Floyd “Brad” Wyatt, Robert Wyatt, Mildred Wyatt Hardy and Joyce Wyatt Bowlin. Norris married Jo Nell Simmons on August 23, 1957, and they had two children, Timothy Wayne Wyatt, Sr. and Pamela Kay Wyatt Furr. His second marriage was to Concha Hernandez on May 16, 1979, and they were married until Concha’s death in 1986. Norris then married Ellen Juanita Hager on October 25, 1987, and were married until her passing in 2009. Norris loved all of his family and enjoyed time spent with them. He also loved his Lord and Savior, his church (New Hope Freewill Baptist), where he was a long-time member, and his church family. He also enjoyed gospel singing, the Andy Griffith Show, and was a wonderful cook. Family members in addition to his children include his step children, Rusty Robinson, Robert Robinson (Yvette) and Michael Robinson; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and extended family members. Graveside services to remember Norris will begin at 11:00 am Monday, June 17th, at Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by Roger Bostic, Pastor, New Hope Freewill Baptist Church. The family would like to especially thank Rebecca Harrington, Yvette Robinson and Roger Bowlin, all extended family members that were very dear to Norris and a great help and comfort to him, allowing Norris to remain independent in his life, which was so important to him.Endnotes
