Death

Ruth Elizabeth Tucker, 83, passed away July 21, 2010, at Britthaven of the Piedmont in Albemarle. A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Hartsell Funeral Home-Midland, 13575 Broadway Ave., Midland. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Springer officiating. Burial will follow at Big Lick Baptist Cemetery. Born in Stanly County on Jan. 1, 1927, she was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Whitley; her father, Jonas Whitley; her spouse Lawrence Tucker, Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Joy Tucker; her son, Johnny Tucker, Sr.; and her grandson, Johnny Tucker, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Tucker, Jr. of Stanfield, Albert "Dickie" Tucker of Whiteland, Ind., Melvin "Pat" Tucker and wife, Gail, of Norwood; her sister, Kat Carriker of Midland; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
