Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Buie Smith will be on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel in Brookhaven, Mississippi at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Grant Gregory will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. Mrs. Smith loved the Lord and daily served Him faithfully until the day she passed from this life on October 3, 2023, at the age of 86, at King’s Daughters Hospital. She was born in Franklin County on February 4, 1937, to John Allen Buie and Myrtle Jetmore Buie. She was a member of Faith Church, Eddiceton, Mississippi. She was a minister at Faith Church and a counselor at Righteous Oaks Recovery Center, Chunky, Mississippi. She worked for many years as a seamstress creating original design pillows and draperies. She loved cooking and gardening and serving others. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roger Lee Smith, son Roger Dale Smith, and brothers Jack Buie and John E. Buie. Survivors include her daughter, Virginia (Ginny) Furr and husband Mike; son Andy Smith and wife Dana. Grandchildren, Nicole Butler, Lane Marie Lee, Jusin Smith, Jenna Smith, Jessica McFall, Jennifer Smith, Jamie Newell, and Grant Smith, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren related by marriage, who loved her and knew her as “Granny.” Her sisters, Margie Carwyle and Sue Whittington, sister-in-law, Margaret Buie, Peggy Buie, Peggy Foster and Abby Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.
