Death
Everett D. Hewitt, 85, or Ev as a lot of people referred to him of North Port, Florida passed away peacefully and comfortably in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family on Friday, September 1, 2023. He was born in New London Connecticut to Charles Henry Hewitt and Helen Lillian Johnson. He grew up in Uncasville, Connecticut. At the age of 22, he married his childhood sweetheart Dorene A. Rioux on June 25, 1960. Early on Everett was a Self-Employed Contractor with Hewitt Brothers Construction along with his brothers Charles (Deag) Hewitt and Robert (Bob) Hewitt who had preceded him in death. He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor from the University of Connecticut, Avery Point Campus in Groton where he docked his boat, he loved fishing and lobstering and spending time on the water. He started driving Limo with Joshua Limousine after retirement and then moved to Florida in 1999 along with his wife Dorene, where he continued as a Limo driver with Ashley’s Limo. He is survived by his 3 children, John Glen Hewitt, Reneé Lynn Furr and Teresa Marie Beckwith and they all reside in North Port, Florida. He loved watching sports, all kinds, but his favorite was his New York Giants football and cheering them on with his family & friends, he also was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, UCONN Huskies and NASCAR. He loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed celebrating the holidays and special occasions with friends & family and also loved when someone would just drop by to share a beer or a brandy with him. If you have ever had the pleasure to meet Everett, he would have treated you like gold and you would have had a forever friend. He was everyone’s hero. He was the absolute best Husband, and Dad, one in a million, and the greatest Grampa to his 7 Grandchildren, 2 Granddaughters, Brittany Lin (Hewitt) Zeledon and Chelsea Renee Hewitt, and 5 Grandsons, Kyle Everett Hewitt, Matthew Richard Furr, Joshua Michael Furr, Michael Andrew Beckwith & Travis John Beckwith. He was Great-Grampa to his one and only, Great-Granddaughter Mia Lin Zeledon. His family meant everything to him, he is survived by many nieces & nephews, and he loved everyone unconditionally. He is truly one of the good guys that was put on this earth. He was a perfect gentleman, compassionate and kind, with more patience and affection than one can hope to find, with a heart of solid gold. A memorial Service will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel.
