Colonel Richard Alan Groben (ret.) passed away on March 10, 2012. Born on April 6, 1944 in Burbank, CA and raised in Auburn, NY. He called Tucson home for over 30 years. In a career spanning 32 years, Alan proudly served his country in the Air Force and Air National Guard, retiring at the rank of Colonel. In the later part of his military career he created a safety culture assessment program still used in the military today. Alan was a loving husband, father and brother. He Is fondly remembered by his wife, Terry; sons, Brian (Ricky) Colorado Springs and David (Rachel) Tucson; daughter, Kelly (Pete) Seattle; brother, Phil (Nancy) Phoenix; sister, Dee (Wes) Denver and grandsons, Michael, David Jr. and Cameron. Alan had a wonderful tenor voice and sang in several choral groups Including Sons of Orpheus. He was an accomplished wood craftsman and had a passion for designing and building beautiful furniture. A full military honor Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Southern AZ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista, AZ.
