Joseph EAGLE
(19 Oct 1785 - 1842)
This family migrated first to Maury County, Tennessee and then to Arkansas. They settled in present day Lonoke County where they raised large families and became leading citizens of their community.
I'm going to start with the family of Rosanna Furr and Joseph Eagle. In Concord Cemetery located at Furlow on HW 89 north of Lonoke, turn east at water tower.

Whitley Cemetery North of Lonoke on Highway 89 to Mt. Tabor Road, turn east on Woodlawn Road , go .5 mile to end and follow signs .3 mile.

Now I will go back and tell what I found on William Henry Eagle, son of James Eagle and Charity Swaim . After I finish listing them I will talk about them. I found TWO W. H. Eagles.
William H. EAGLE born 05 Apr 1835 died 12 Mar 1906 in Lonoke City Cemetery Section 22, Row 4 grave 2. CSA. Co. mar. 1st Malinda A. Robinson mar 2nd Ada Monroe. For some reason the fellow who did the cemetery book listed three separate lines for him; one with Malinda, one with Ada and one with his parents names.
Malinda A. Robinson EAGLE born 08 Nov 1838 died 27 Feb 1882 wife of W. H. Eagle, daughter of W. & M. G. Robinson - Whitley Cemetery at Furlow.

W. H. "Billy" EAGLE born 17 Nov 1851 died 06 Nov 1873 husband of Malinda Adline Robinson (This statement was under his entry, but I doubt this is so. Lina)
(Mrs.) M. A. EAGLE no dates aged 20y,2m,9ds poss. wife of W. H. (This cannot be Malinda Adeline Robinson, she was much older than 20 years old when she died. Could this be the wife of the younger W. H. Eagle? He was almost 22 when he died in 1873. Lina)
I found a whole list of children related to W. H., Malinda and Ada Eagle buried in Whitley and Lonoke City Cemeteries. I also found on RootsWeb a family tree submitted by Gloria Wheat that lists all these children for William Henry Eagle and Malinda Adeline Robinson. I'm going to use * beside those found in the census records and # by those listed in William's will.

Listed in 1870 Prairie Co. census are two more children: M. M. age 8/12 in census and R. S. age 4. R. S. is listed as Robert age 13 in 1880 Lonoke Co. census.
Listed in the will are R. E. L. Eagle (Robert E. Lee), W. H. Eagle, James P. Eagle, Fredrich Eagle, Bessie Eagle, and Lillian R. Eagle
So we have proof positive that the children in the census and in the will belong to this William Henry Eagle. I will continue to look for the other W. H. "Billy" Eagle and a wife for him. Some of these could belong to him. Will let you know what, if anything, I find.
What bothers me about these children: There are three sons named Robert and three named James.!! I know that sometimes when one child died they would give another child the same name, but from these dates at least two by each name were alive at the same time!
