Death
Frantom Eaton Bearden passed away in Austin on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the age of 87. Fran was born in Ozona, Texas and grew up in Fort Davis where she graduated high school and her father was the first resident practicing physician in the area. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Chemistry at Texas Tech University in 1941 and went on to be one of the first women to complete the pharmacy program at the University of Texas at Austin receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in 1961. Fran worked as a pharmacist in Big Spring, Lubbock and finally in Plainview, Texas where she retired. She later moved to Austin to be closer to her family. Fran loved traveling, playing bridge, hunting with Frank, and hummingbirds. Fran was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Calvin Eli Eaton, M.D. and Pauline Friend Eaton, sister, Carrie Lou Magee, son William Travis Jones, daughter Viki (Furr) Lowe, and husband Frank Bearden. She leaves behind her children, Zane Jones and wife Sally of Charlottesville, Va., Todd Jones and wife Brenda of Austin; grandchildren Ward Jones, Rachael Meredith and husband Scott, Zane Furr and wife Carol, Nicole Jones, and five great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at West Oaks Rehabilitation Center (with special thanks to Lila) and Angel Heart Hospice for the care given Fran. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins Springs Cemetery near Brownwood, Texas.Austin American-Statesman, Austin Texas, July 1, 2008
