Death
Dorothy Berry Obituary -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lynn Cash officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park. Born March 18, 1925, in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cleveland and Bonnie Furr Stewart. Nita and her husband, the late Edward Jordan Berry, lived away from Concord for many years due to Edd's service in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Concord in the late 1980s upon Edd's retirement from the Navy. Nita and Edd had many wonderful and interesting experiences living in such places as Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Athens, Greece. Nita was preceded in death by her husband, Edd, and brother, Joe Donald Stewart of Concord. Survivors include her sister, Betty Stewart Overcash of Concord; brother, William Baxter Stewart, also of Concord; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who all loved their "Aunt Nita." Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Boy Scout Camp Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Hartsell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mrs. Berry.Published by Concord & Kannapolis Independent Tribune on Nov. 9, 2006
