Death
Printed in the Times Post, Houston, Mississippi dated March 21 1935Father of Mr. White Dies After Lingering Illness. After a lingering illness, Mr. J W White died last Wednesday at his home in Soegaard, near Brookhaven, at the age of seventy-eight. Mr. White was a man of marked personality, quiet, modest, and most unassuming, holding the esteem of all who knew him. His faith throughout his life was an inspiration to all with whom he associated. This enabled him to bear his lengthy illness with patience and courage. In his earlier days he was engaged in the mercantile business and was also the postmaster of Soegaard for thirty years. He was married fifty-four years ago. Besides his wife, he leaves eight children, thirty grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted Thursday afternoon by Rev. J H Rogers, a boyhood friend, and Rev. W C bowman, of Mississippi College. Interment followed in the Holly springs cemetery nearby. Six grandsons served as pallbearers. Mr. White was the father of Mr. E F White of Houston.
