Clyde M. Graham Mr. Graham, 70, of Matthews, died Friday, October 28, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. He was born June 2, 1935 in Charlotte and was the eldest son of Clyde and Jennie Graham. Clyde grew up on the Graham dairy farm on Park Road in Charlotte. He graduated in the first consolidated class from East Mecklenburg High School and received his undergraduate degree from Wofford College. He served six years in the U. S. Army Reserves and worked as a buyer and sales associate with Ivey's and Dillards for 44 years. Clyde accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1949 at a Charlotte Crusade of his cousin, Billy Graham. During his life-long involvement in Calvary Church, he served as choir member, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, usher, deacon, elder and unofficial friendly greeter. Clyde will be remembered for his steadfast faith in Christ, his loving devotion to his family and friends and his loyalty to his church and to his employers. A memorial service in celebration of Clyde's life will be Tuesday, November 1, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Church. Interment will be in Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Martha Patterson Graham; son, David Patrick Graham and wife, Kim; daughter, Alice Graham Furr and husband, Mark, all of Matthews; son, Joel Thomas Graham and wife, Luda, of Petrozavodsk, Russia; brother, Edwin Patrick Graham and wife, Gail, of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Graham and Joshua Furr; brothers-in-law, William Joel Patterson of Greenville, SC, and Thomas Wallace Patterson of Wynnewood, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Church Imagine Fund, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
