Notes
Death
Nolan and his identical twin, Olan were born to Curb Smith and Maude Della Rogers DeGough in Kaufman, Texas. They lost their Father at age six and were raised by their Mother alone. Each had multiple jobs as children to help their Mother financially. Nolan worked as a Ice Delivery Boy, operated a Service Station as a young man, then worked for General Electric, LTV (Ling Temco Vought), then as a Electrician for the City of Dallas until his retirement. For over 20 years he was a Newspaper Delivery Carrier for the Dallas Morning News. He took care of his invalid Mother and married late in life. He married Lillie Christell Reeves DeGaugh on June 20, 1949. They were the parents to two loving daughters and suffered the loss of a baby son at birth. Nolan was a very loving parent, always ensuring that his daughters knew how much he loved them. As a parent he and his brother, Olan made sure that their children had the type of Father that they always missed. Nolan was a honest, honorable man who always had a kind word and always helped anyone he could. He loved to travel, was a student of history, loved to read to gain knowledge, and spend time with his family. He doted on all of his grandchildren and spoiled them as he had with his daughters, Paula Jan and Lana Gay. He was very young at heart even as he grew older. He never met a stranger and never forgot a friend or relative. Nolan always stayed in contact with all of his relatives and called or wrote to all of them to stay in touch. The world was a much better place because he and his brother, Olan "Olo" were in it. It was a very sad day when they both left us. We as family members still continue to go through life with what they taught us and still hear their words in our hearts and minds. We shall miss them dearly till we meet them again in Heaven.Endnotes
