INDIAN TRAIL -- Banks Hernon Clontz, 76, of 311 Old Dutch Road West, died Friday, November 8, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, Monroe. Burial with Masonic Rites conducted at the graveside will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 10th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. Mr. Clontz was born June 5, 1926 in Union County, NC, son of the late Ottie Molsey Pigg Clontz and Banks Alexander Clontz. A central office repairman, he retired from Southern Bell with 35 years of service. Mr. Clontz was a member of Union Lodge #618 of Midland, and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Monroe. Survivors are his wife, Nell Clontz of the home; son, Mike Clontz and wife Melvie Clontz of Indian Trail, NC; daughters, Cindy C. Furr and husband Boyd of Monroe, NC, Kaye Morse and husband Keith and Tia McKnight and husband Randy, all of Indian Trail, NC; brothers, Bland Clontz of Charlotte, NC and Garren Clontz of Indian Trail, NC; sister, Martha Dean Helms of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Mark Furr, Brandy and husband Timmy Robinson, Beth Furr, Brian and wife Jessica Morse, Leslie Morse, Melissa Morse, Taylor Clontz, Shelly Clontz and Benjamin Tripp; and great granddaughter, Sidney Robinson. He was preceded in death by a son Banks David Clontz, brother Paschal Clontz and a sister Doris Linker. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 Roosevelt Boulevard West, Monroe, NC, or Hopewell Baptist Church, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC.
