ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Nancy Carolyn Horne, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017 at her home with her three daughters at her bedside. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday and other times at the home. Nancy was born March 28, 1942 in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Harvey "Buck" Horne and the late Inez Hutchinson Horne. In her career life, she worked several different places but retired from Fruit of the Loom. Following her retirement, she was employed with Richmond County Waste Management. Although born in Scotland County, she grew up in Wadesboro. She was a 1960 graduate of Wadesboro High School, where she was active in many clubs and was voted best personality superlative for her graduating class. She always considered Wadesboro her home and cherished dearly her family and friends here. Surviving are her children, Yvonne Carter Allen and Sybil Carter, both of Rockingham, and Sabrina Carter Furr of Albemarle; her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grangon," Courtney Hogan, Randi East (Allen) Roberts, Lauren Carter, Whitney East, Lydia East, Kasey Tarlton, and Micaela Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Noah Hogan, Zachary Moore, Chandler Garner, Aleigha Hogan, Pressley Poston, and Alexis Roberts; and her sister, Hazel (Charles ) Tucker of Greensboro; her brothers-in-law, Earl Ricketts and Johnny Wallace, both of Wadesboro. Also surviving are foster sons, James and Tim Rainwater of Rockingham and special friends who are much like family, Chrissy Smith-Hudson and Dominic Rossetti. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Alex Furr; brothers and sisters, Ed and Boyce Horne, Nealie Mae Daly, Rose Wallace, Lib Sessions and Jenny Ricketts.
