Death
Daniel George Cleveland, 68, of Chula died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in Tifton. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Spikes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Cleveland was born December 5, 1944 in Jacksonville, Fla. to the late George Oliver Cleveland and the late Mary Jackson Woods. He lived in Chula since 1983 from Jacksonville, Fla. He was retired from Kelley Manufacturing. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Cleveland loved to play Santa Claus for Kelley Manufacturing, local hospitals and Ruth's Cottage. He was known for his generosity amongst the community. If there was any way that Dan Cleveland could help someone, he would do it without hesitation. He was a sports fanatic and an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed going to as many races as he could. Dan was always surrounded by friends and family at the races and throughout the years, wonderful memories were made at the race track. Dan Cleveland was eternally young at heart, had a large presence and was most often the life of the party. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family on a regular basis. He treasured family time, especially time spent with his grandchildren. To his grandchildren he was known as "Grandpa Dan" and when Grandpa Dan was around, he brought smiles to their faces. Mr. Cleveland is survived by his children, Amy Ramirez, Alisa Rotte and Angela Cleveland, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Heather Alford of Callahan, Fla., Dwayne Cleveland of Waterloo and Nathan Blackman of Dawsonville; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.The Tifton Gazette, Tifton, Georgia, May 25, 2013
