Death

HARRISBURG - Helen Faye Porter Godwin, 79, of 6300 Roberta Road, Harrisburg, died Friday, Sept. 1 at NorthEast Medical Center. Gaveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at West Concord Cemetery. The family meeting place will be the home of daughter Terry Furr, 114 Green St., Concord. Born Feb. 28, 1927, in Union County, she was a caterer and member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Mint Hill. Survivors include daughters, Terry Furr and Delores Lefler, both of Concord; son, Robert E. "Eddie" Sanders of Mount Pleasant; brothers, Paul Porter of Harrisburg and Donald Porter of Mint Hill; sister, Patsy Green of Concord; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by first husband, Neal Edward Sanders; second husband, Jonny Godwin; beloved daughter, Brenda June Foster; father, Charlie Neal Porter; and mother, Lois Pearl Porter.
