PICAYUNE --- Mr. Chester Howard Slaven, 83, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in Picayune. Mr. Slaven was a native of Talisheek, La., and was a self-employed machinist. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Picayune. Survivors include his wife, Lena Dawsey Slaven; a daughter, Iva Nell Furr; two sons, Claude H. Slaven and Roger D. Slaven, all of Picayune; a brother, Darris Slaven of Pasadena, Texas; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel in Picayune where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
