Death
Carolyn J. Merryman, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie, PA on June 23, 1941, daughter of the late Albert and Florence McKnight Moon. Carolyn married David "John" Merryman on September 16, 1966. She was a 1961 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. Carolyn started her career as a beautician, working at Moran's Hair Design and later worked as a nurse's aide at Pleasant Ridge Manor, where she retired after 25 years. Carolyn was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Albion, PA, Eastern Star and the VFW auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, reading, dancing, music and a good card, or board game. Her biggest joy was her family. Carolyn was known for her big heart, big smile, and the ability to brighten even the darkest days. She was mom and nana to all and made you feel like you were the most important person, even if she just met you. She is now a true guardian angel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John Merryman. She is survived by three daughters, Candice (Greg) Furr of Aiken, SC, Audra (Matt) Caro of Edinboro, PA and Tracy (Phil) Albert of Aiken, SC; eight grandchildren, Katelyn Merryman, Joel Albert, Ethan Albert, Mattie Caro, Josh Caro, Brittney Furr, Robert Furr, Maddy Furr; two great grandchildren, Charlotte Williams and Brett Williams; two sisters, Barbara Elaine (Samuel) Nardo of Erie, PA and Janice Patten of Albion, PA and several nieces and nephews. Carolyn's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and caretakers at Niagara Village, and to the aides, nurses, and therapists, and staff at Edinboro Manor, and UPMC Hamot. Your dedication, care, and compassion for her is very much appreciated. Friends may call on Thursday June 16, 2022, at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street Girard from 5 to 7pm and are invited to attend services at Grace United Methodist Church, 49 Franklin Street in Albion on Friday June 17th at 11am.
