Richard R. "Dick" Doyle of Crest Hill, passed away at Palos Community Hospital, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Age 73 years. Survived by his loving daughters Michele (Roger Taylor) Stellwag, Jennifer (Chris) Hyland and Melissa Stroud. Ten grandchildren Brandon and Nathan Stellwag, Nolan and Brayden Taylor, Zacharry (Katie) Furr, Nicholas (Tisha) Furr, Meghann (Julian) Ward, Morghann Furr, Jackson Furr and Kacey Hyland. Two great-grandchildren Carly Furr and Maycee Fitzgerald. Preceded in death by his wife Rose M. Doyle, step-son Shawn Lunde and son-in-law Kurt Stroud (2021). Dick was born in Richmond, Indiana on December 19, 1948 to Owen J. "Bud" Doyle and Helen E. Doyle (nee Lough). He graduated from Lockport Township High School Class of 1966. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, stationed in Key West, Florida aboard the USS Bushnell and USS Howard W. Gilmore as a Electrician Mate 3rd Class from 1968-1972. Dick golfed daily with his golfing buddies at many local and distant golf courses. He enjoyed camping, maintaining a campsite at Wilmington Recreation Club in Wilmington, playing euchre and played on various softball teams, known as "Double D" and was a switch hitting batter. Most of all Dick loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Member of Joliet Elks Lodge #296. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, May 17th at 8:00 P.M. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services at 8:00 p.m. Funeral procession will depart from the funeral home Wednesday, May 18th at 1:00 P.M to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the family would be appreciated.Endnotes
