Death
Ada Ruth Mallett was born on Sept. 7, 1932, in San Saba County to James “Bud” Hilton Key and Josie Deborah Allen. Ruth passed away peacefully at the age 82 on Sept. 1, 2015. She will be greatly missed. Ruth, or “Memaw” as most knew her, was a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a faithful member of Lake Victor Church of Christ. She was a sweet-spirited Christian homemaker who loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, cooking, sewing and gardening. Ruth married the Raymond Darrell Heine on Oct. 1, 1955. Together, they had four children. Several years after Darrell’s passing, Ruth married O’dell Mallett on Nov. 27, 1999. Once Ruth and O’dell’s families joined, their combined family included five children, 10 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Bud and Josie, and first husband of 37 years, Darrell, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Glenda Kaye Heine; brother, Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Key; and sister Imogene Cook. Left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, O’dell Mallett of Burnet; children, Linda and Donald Jackson of Florence, Debbie and Terry Furr of Bertram, Raymond “Bo” Heine and Laura Escamilla of Bertram, Mike and Connie Mallett of Lampasas and Karen and Roy Bills of Stephenville; grandchildren, John and Chrissy Boswell, Waylon and Monica Boswell, Sandy and Mark Mejias, Jessica and Tim Ahern, Amanda and Justin Schwabe, Tara Workman, Cassidy Stapp, Brandon and Dusty Bills, Britten and Jeramie Meador and Bret Bills; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Staats and Joan Oestriech of Llano; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the health care professionals at Seton Medical Center in Burnet and Williamson County. Memorials may be made in Ruth’s memory to Cherokee Children’s Home, P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832. A service was Sept. 4 at Edgar & Jenkins Family Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444, officiated by Darrell Debo and Clayton Arnold.Endnotes
