Death

Ellen “Loree” Ross Smith, 85, of Rockwell, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022 in Rockwell. She was born July 30, 1936 in Virginia to the late Joseph Ross and Mattie Shinn Ross. Loree worked as a inspector for Field Crest Cannon and in her spare time she enjoyed puzzles, cooking, bird watching, gardening, and collecting dolls. She adored George Jones and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended New Life Church of Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, Loree was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Moser; brothers, Clifford Ross, Clinton Ross, Raymond Ross, Plato Ross, and Curt Ross; sisters, May Cannupp, Donnie Hodge, Etta Ross; and beloved dog, Precious. Loree is survived by son, Billy Furr of Concord; daughters, Nancy Drye (Roy) of Rockwell, Rebecca Littles of Rockwell; eight grandchildren, Kathy Poole, Roy Drye III, Jody Drye, Stephanie Basham, Cameron Moore, Aaliyah Littles, Carrie Beaver (Cameron), Ryan Furr; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements: There will be a graveside service held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 3 at West Lawn Chapel, 1350 South Main Street. China Grove, NC 28023, with Chaplain Chris Henson officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 301 South Main Street, Suite 105 • Salisbury, NC 28144. Carolina Cremation is assisting the Smith family.
